EMC Certification Testing
Important Exam Information
Associate Level
Beginning January 1, 2009, when registering for the E20-001 exam look for the new title Information Storage and Management. In our effort to continuously improve the Storage Technologist curriculum, we review emerging areas of technology that are becoming increasingly important to storage professionals. Since October, 2007 we have added security, virtualization and deduplication to expand the breadth of the Storage Technology Foundations course. As a consequence, we are changing the title of the course and exam to “Information Storage and Management” to fully represent the value of the course and the EMC Proven Professional Associate level certification.
The exam content has not changed and continues to be the preferred exam to achieve Associate level Certification not only for Storage Technologist track but also for Technology Architect, Implementation Engineer, Customer Engineer, and Storage Administrator tracks.
If you have already passed the EMC Technology Foundations Exam (E20-040) you do not need to pass the E20-001, Information Storage and Management exam to pursue Specialist level certification in the Technology Architect, Implementation Engineer, Customer Engineer, or Storage Administrator tracks.
The EMC Technology Foundations – CLARiiON Exam (E20-050) is the qualifying Associate exam for CLARiiON Specialties only.
The EMC Backup and Recovery Foundations Exam (E20-097) will be updated on January 9, 2009 and is the qualifying exam for Associate level certification in Backup and Recovery specialties only. Information Storage and Management, Storage Technology Foundations and EMC Technology Foundations are also acceptable for progression in the Backup and Recovery specialties.
Content Management Exams
The Content Management Foundations Exam (E20-120) is the qualifying exam required to achieve Associate level Certification for Content Management tracks:
Application Developer, System Administrator, Technology Architect (Content Management). On December 29th, 2008, the exam will be updated to reflect the use of Documentum Composer to create and maintain EMC Documentum applications.
Further recognition can be achieved by passing the Content Management exams at the Specialist level: Content Management Server Programming (E20-405), Content Management Web Application Programming (E20-455), or Content Management System Administration (E20-465). Be sure to review the most current exam description and suggested training courses on the CMA Education Services website.
The Content Management Systems Architecture Specialist Exam (E20-475) is a qualifying exam for the EMC Proven Professional Technology Architect Specialist track for Content Management Systems Architects. Recommended preparation for this exam is the Architecting EMC Documentum Systems course. This 3-day hands-on course will cover concepts and techniques for designing systems that meet customer requirements for scalability, performance, high availability, and security.
The Content Management Application Architecture Specialist Exam (E20-485) will be available December 29, 2008. This is a qualifying exam for the EMC Proven Professional Technology Architect Specialist track for Content Management Application Architects. Recommended preparation for this exam is the Architecting EMC Documentum Applications course. This hands-on course focuses on mapping business requirements into Enterprise Content Management application design using developer tools as well as EMC Documentum application programming interfaces.

Customer Engineer Specialist Exams
The CLARiiON Installation and Troubleshooting Exam (E20-611) will be updated on January 16, 2009.
Implementation Engineer Specialist Exams
The Network Attached Storage (NAS) Implementation Exam (E20-361) was updated on September 5, 2008. This exam will replace the Networked Storage (NS) Specialist exam (E20-535) which was retired on October 31, 2008.
The CLARiiON Solutions Implementation Exam (E20-340) was updated on December 12, 2008.
The Backup and Recovery Implementation Exam (E20-593) will be updated on January 23, 2009.
Implementation Engineer Expert Exams
The Network Attached Storage (NAS) Expert Exam for Implementation Engineers (E20-860) will be updated on December 19, 2008.
Product Technology Specific Exams
The NEW Rainfinity File Virtualization Exam (E22-270) is now available and focuses on the configuration, management, and administration of Rainfinity appliances and software features in NAS environments.
The NEW RecoverPoint Data Replication and Recovery Exam (E22-275) will be available on January 2, 2009. EMC RecoverPoint provides continuous data protection and continuous remote replication enabling any-point-in-time recovery to protect data against loss or corruption. This exam focuses on the design and deployment of EMC RecoverPoint. It also covers RecoverPoint features and functionality.
The Mainframe Local Replication Exam (E22-201) and the Mainframe Remote Replication Exam (E22-211) will be updated on January 16, 2009.
Storage Administrator Specialist Exams
The CLARiiON Solutions Specialist Exam for Storage Administrators (E20-522) was updated on November 7, 2008.
NEW - The Network Attached Storage (NAS) Specialist Exam for Storage Administrators (E20-538) is now available and is the updated version of the Network Storage – NS Specialist exam for Storage Administrators (E20-537) exam retired on September 5, 2008.
The Backup and Recovery Specialist Exam for Storage Administrators (E20-597) will be updated on January 23, 2009.

Technology Architect Specialist Exams
Introducing EMC Storage and Information Infrastructure – Commercial. The NEW EMC Commercial Storage & Information Infrastructure Exam for Technology Architects (E20-501) is now available.
Velocity Partners have a new option available under the EMCTA Certification Track: EMC Storage and Information Infrastructure – Commercial (SI2-C). This training and certification exam builds on the knowledge gained in Storage Technology Foundations (ISM) by exploring the features and capabilities of EMC core technologies and products aligned to the Commercial market; encompassing storage platforms, networking, replication, backup & recovery, archive, virtualization, and management.
The CLARiiON Solutions Specialist Exam for Technology Architects (E20-520) was updated on November 7, 2008.
The Network Attached Storage (NAS) Specialist Exam for Technology Architects (E20-540) was updated on September 5, 2008. This exam will replace the Networked Storage (NS) Specialist exam (E20-533) which was retired on October 31, 2008.
Technology Architect Expert Exams
The Storage Area Network (SAN) Expert Exam for Technology Architects (E20-825) was updated on December 5, 2008.
The Networked Attached Storage (NAS) Expert Exam for Technology Architects (E20-830) will be updated on January 23, 2009.
The CLARiiON Solutions Expert Exam for Technology Architects (E20-820) will be updated on February 6, 2009.
